City Soundproofing's Acoustic Carpet Underlayment is a must if you don't want the downstairs neighbors to hear you when you're taking tango lessons or listening to rap music on 10. Carpet underlayment is perfect for living room, bedrooms, music rooms or just about any other room in your home where you'd like whatever it is you're doing to remain private. City Soundproofing Underlayment products consist of a foam layer supporting an acoustic vinyl barrier. The foam layer acts to decouple the mass layer from the floor vibrations, creating an effective barrier against noise radiating from the floor due to structure borne or airborne sources of noise excitation.

The Material There are a number of formats for this product, each one consisting of one of the foams listed with a mass loaded vinyl layer bonded to the top.

Foams Charcoal 1/4" and 1/2": Soft underfoot feel, compatible with softer carpeting Premium grade 1/4" & 1/2 ": Compatible with carpets requiring a firmer support Closed cell 1/4" & 1/2": For use under all weather carpeting in areas that get wet

Mass Layer The mass portion of this material is a mass loaded vinyl, with a reducted slippage embossed surface, in densities from 1/2 lb. to 2 lb. per square foot.
